what would Michael Jordan do? - USA TODAY

During Tuesday night's Game 1 of the NBA Finals, an image of LeBron James embracing the Larry O'Brien trophy flashed across the screen during a montage shown leading into the game.

It was an image that drew instant correlations with another, far more poignant (and authentic) scene from the game's legend.

The issue could be LeBron James once again drawing unearned comparisons with Michael Jordan. Or that James has promised more trophies than fingers on his right hand when he arrived in Miami ... and has yet to deliver on one. It's even possible the issue could be that people are incapable of cutting LBJ some slack.

Perhaps a few layers deeper is a question:

Would Michael Jordan have embraced a championship trophy he did not win?

Should anyone?

There is no question of LeBron's ability. But his judgement remains shaky and until he gets a ring of his own, questions such as this will continue to linger.
